I don't see a lot of stuff today. I'm wondering if people are petered out.

April Fools seems like a relic of a happier time in the tech world. That said, I've found myself following /r/SBCGaming on Reddit recently and they had a decent one today with their game of the month, announcing that a historically terrible game (Superman 64) had been selected.

Iconic Concorde back to the skies just in time for April[1]
I emailed rms about whether he'd might consider using a fully free software, hardware, firmware computer with a free software targetable eFPGA, which I explained here all the computer parts that exist today that can make it happen: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43547644
The april fools is that I asked him to also consider using mitigations that counter the side effects of the two possibly proprietary components. (the display and nonvolatile storage medium)
Which is about how since 2014, April fools jokes on hn have been discouraged.
( Its old, but I thought I'd reshare. )

The best April Fools jokes are the ones that are fairly easy to see through by intelligent people; but that gullible people tend to fall for.
Unfortunately, there is so much crazy stuff on social media and even on major media outlets' sites, that you are sure must be a joke or a conspiracy theory; but turn out to be true.
It has taken the novelty out of having just one day a year where the gloves can come off.
Ask HN: Any good April Fools today?
